If you’re in a hurry and just want to find out what the best triple stroller is, I’d recommend the Foundations Trio Sport Tandem Stroller.
If you’ve got three kids, you will need a way to cart them around from place to place. The natural solution is a triple stroller.
In this article, I am breaking down the best triple strollers, and in the end, I’ll choose the winner.
Here are the triple strollers I will be reviewing:
- Foundations Trio Sport Tandem Stroller
- UPPAbaby Vista Stroller
- Peg Perego Triplette Piroet Stroller
- Joovy Big Caboose Graphite Stand On Triple Stroller
- Foundations Infant Toddler Sport Splash 4 Passenger Quad Stroller
What To Consider When Shopping For A Triple Stroller
Not everyone that is buying a triple stroller is getting one for the same reason. Someone that just had triplets will have different needs than someone with a two year old and twin infants.
For that matter, someone that loves hiking and has twin two year olds and a newborn will have different needs as well. A parent in this situation might even be able to get away with an all terrain double stroller and a baby carrier.
The main point is that when you are getting recommendations and reading reviews, you will really want to think about what is important in your case, and what features you can compromise on (or may not need at all).
Triple Stroller Features And Types
Before you look at individual strollers, it’s worth a quick look at the different types and features out there.
Tandem Or Side By Side
You have two basic configuration options when it comes to triple strollers. The kids can sit side by side or they can sit in tandem (with one behind another).
The big advantage to tandem strollers is that it’s a lot easier to fit them through the doorway. In contrast, side by side strollers tend to be so wide that it can be a struggle to get them through the door.
On the other hand, tandem strollers tend to be more difficult to maneuver compared to side by side strollers. There are exceptions to this rule, but it’s worth keeping in mind.
Large And Heavy
Triple strollers are almost always going to be larger and heavier than single or double strollers. There is just no getting around this.
While it’s easy enough to find a single stroller that will fit in your car, that’s not always the case with triple strollers. If you have a small car, it’s worth paying special attention to stroller size especially when it’s folded.
Riding Boards
If at least one of your kids is a little older, you might look at strollers that have two infant seats and a riding board. This will open up your options considerably.
What About A Quad Stroller?
Although this post is focused on triple strollers, it might be a good idea to look at quad strollers as well. You can cart around three kids in a quad stroller, and you also have an extra seat for your diaper bag or anything else you need to take with you.
For that reason, I did include one quad stroller on the list below.
My Top Triple Stroller Reviews
There aren’t a ton of great triple stroller options out there. It’s a smaller market, and a lot of the big stroller makers just don’t have anything to offer.
That said, I was able to find five great options to analyze and review. Different options will be more or less appealing, depending on your situation. In particular, a couple of the ones listed below are great if at least one of your kids is a little older, but wouldn’t work well if all your kids are infants.
Foundations Trio Sport Tandem Stroller
The Foundations Trio Sport Tandem Stroller is well designed and well built. In fact, I think this is the best triple stroller for most people. Whether your kids are all the same age or all different ages, this stroller can work well.
This one is narrow enough to fit through doorways fairly easily, unlike a lot of other triple strollers out there. This is pretty important. It’s not just when you’re leaving the house. It’s also when you’re out shopping or walking on a crowded sidewalk that the narrow design has a lot of appeal.
The front and rear seats can recline. So, at least two of your kids should have an easy time napping. If you have triplets, you might need to rotate them based on who appears to be the most tired.
There is storage space in the back, so you have a place to carry some of the things that you need to carry everywhere when you have kids. However, there is no parent console, which would have been nice.
It does come with a cup holder, so you’ll have a place for that cup of coffee. This is a must have for anyone that spends their days chasing three little kids around!
This stroller is surprisingly easy to fold. I can tell you from experience that this is really important. Just imagine taking three kids out of the stroller and then spending five minutes trying to fold it up while keeping an eye on them. Not exactly easy or something you want to do every day.
The biggest issue with this one is that it can be hard to maneuver. Unfortunately, that’s a common issue with most triple strollers since they are so big and bulky by their very nature.
For all of the great features that this one offers, it’s actually priced at the more affordable end of the range. That’s not to say it’s inexpensive. Triple strollers tend to cost a bit more in general. However, I would say that it offers a tremendous value.
Pros
- Excellent value
- Easy to fit through doorways
- Works well for kids that are the same ages or different ages
- Includes a cup holder
- Has storage space
Cons
- Parents report it can be difficult to maneuver
- No parent console
- Middle seat does not recline
UPPAbaby Vista Stroller
UPPAbaby has really broken the mold with this stroller. It’s a little on the pricey end, but wow is it spectacular!
Now, this isn’t a triple stroller that can accommodate three kids sitting in regular seats. Instead, it comes with a piggyback skateboard. So, two kids can sit while one stands in the back. If you have triplets or three young kids that need to sit, this one is not for you. But, if you have two infants and one older child that can stand and ride, this could be a winner.
One of the most striking things about this stroller is that it’s remarkably easy to maneuver. In fact, parents are even able to navigate with one hand. That’s almost unheard of in the world of triple strollers (or strollers in general for that matter). Personally, I always seem to be sipping a coffee or checking my phone when I’m pushing my stroller. So, this kind of makes my day.
It doesn’t come with a cup holder though. So, if you do want to sip a coffee while you stroll around, you’ll want to purchase one separately to attach.
It’s easy to fold and unfold. So, as long as you can persuade your little ones to cooperate, you will have no trouble coming or going.
The storage basket underneath is quite large. With all of the extra things you need to carry around with three kids, this is a big plus.
This stroller is compatible with the MESA infant car seat, so it can serve as a travel system for two kids. It’s also compatible with other car seats if you purchase an adapter.
One additional bonus is that the handlebar is adjustable. So, if you and your spouse are different heights, you will both be comfortable pushing this one.
Pros
- Easy to maneuver, even with one hand
- Easy to fold and unfold
- Can carry three children when one stands on the piggyback skateboard
- Large underneath storage basket
Cons
- Can’t accommodate three kids that all need to sit
- Priced at the high end of the range
- Does not include a cup holder
Peg Perego Triplette Piroet Stroller
This is a high end Italian stroller with an interesting design.
The handlebar has a steering wheel that connects to the front wheels. So, this stroller handles like a dream.
It’s also fairly narrow. So, you’ll have no trouble fitting it through doorways.
Your kids will be comfortable, since the seats can recline. The footrests are adjustable as well, which is a nice bonus as they grow.
Keeping your little ones entertained shouldn’t be a problem since each hood has a loop to dangle their favorite toy.
While this is an extraordinarily nice stroller, it doesn’t come with a cup holder or parent console. That’s kind of a shame, since the stroller itself is rather expensive.
Pros
- Handles a like a dream with handlebar steering wheel
- Seats recline
- Footrests are adjustable
- Hoods have hoops to dangle toys
Cons
- On the expensive end
- No cupholder
- No parent console
Joovy Big Caboose Graphite Stand On Triple Stroller
This Joovy stroller is well suited to three kids out of the box if one of them is a little older. It has two regular seats up front, and in the back it has a place for an older child to sit in bench seat or stand on a platform.
It’s fairly versatile though, and can accommodate three infants if you purchase a caboose rear seat accessory.
Your kids will be comfortable riding in this one. The front seats recline and the footrests are adjustable. In addition, the canopies are quite large and provide good coverage.
The stroller is equipped with all wheel suspension. So, your kids will have a smooth ride.
It has a large storage basket, so you will have a place to keep all of the things that you need to carry around. It has child trays as well, but doesn’t have a parent console.
The stroller is well designed and actually folds up surprisingly flat. This is hard to find when looking for triple strollers, and is really something to consider if you have a smaller car.
The biggest issue with this one is that it’s hard to maneuver. While that’s not uncommon with triple strollers, it’s still a little annoying.
One other thing to mention is that this stroller is actually priced quite affordably, even if you end up buying the caboose seat accessory.
Pros
- Seats recline and footrests are adjustable
- Large storage basket
- Comes with child trays
- Priced affordably
- Smooth ride with all wheel suspension
- Folds up flat
Cons
- Hard to maneuver
- No parent console
Foundations Infant Toddler Sport Splash 4 Passenger Quad Stroller
You might wonder what this quad stroller is doing here, since we are supposed to be reviewing triple strollers. Well, if you have three kids, this could actually be a really nice option. You have three seats to put the kids in, and one seat for your diaper bag or anything else that you want to carry around.
There is a storage basket underneath as well. So, if you tend to carry a lot of things around (and a lot of parents with three kids do), this might be the stroller that you have been looking for.
It’s remarkably easy to push and steer compared to a lot of triple strollers. It also folds and unfolds easily. So, your day to day experience with this one should be quite good.
It has a gigantic canopy that will keep your kids well protected from the sun. A nice feature on those hot summer days.
The biggest drawback with this one is that since there are two seats across, it’s a little bit wide That means it will be challenging to fit through some doorways.
It also doesn’t come with a cup older, and I really wish it did. When you have three kids, you really need a place to put your coffee. It’s a scientific fact. Just saying.
Pros
- Large storage basket underneath
- Easy to push and steer
- Easy to fold and unfold
- Gigantic canopy
Cons
- Difficult to fit through doorways
- No cupholder
Bringing Home The Best Triple Stroller
I think the Foundations Trio Sport Tandem Stroller is the best triple stroller on the market. It will work well if your kids are all the same age, or if they are different ages. That said, if you do have one child that is a bit older, there are some other pretty nice options to look at. I also wouldn’t rule out a quad stroller, since it can accommodate three kids and gives you extra storage.
