If you’re in a hurry and just want to find out what the best umbrella stroller for tall parents is, we’d recommend the Summer Infant 3D Lite Convenience Stroller.

When we got our first full size stroller, we took it everywhere. It was only after several months that we started to realize just how inconvenient it was for every day use. So, we started looking at umbrella strollers.

At first, an umbrella stroller seemed like an unnecessary expense. But, finally we got one. And we have never looked back.

In this article, we are breaking down the best umbrella strollers for tall parents, and in the end, we’ll choose the winner.

Here are the umbrella strollers I will be reviewing:

Biggest Benefits Of Umbrella Strollers

When our son was born, we got a full size travel system stroller. We were quite happy with this purchase, and never imagined that we would need to get another stroller. However, after a little time passed we realized that umbrella strollers come with a TON of benefits.

Umbrella strollers are much lighter weight than full size “regular” strollers. That makes them much easier to take out of a car or put back in. It also makes them MUCH more portable in case you need to carry one through an airport.

These strollers are more compact as well. So, they are easier to store in a closet, small trunk, or overhead bin.

There there is performance. Umbrella strollers get high marks for maneuverability. So, when you’re walking through a crowd at Disney, or when you’re out shopping, you can turn these strollers on a dime.

The biggest advantage that full size strollers have over umbrella strollers is that most umbrella strollers aren’t car seat compatible. However, once you stop using the car seat travel system feature on your full size stroller, you will wonder why you would ever want to use it at all.

How To Pick The Right Umbrella Stroller For You

Once you have decided to get an umbrella stroller, you will want to figure out which one is best for you. A lot of these strollers come with different trade offs, so your specific priorities will ultimately determine which one suits you.

Handle Height

If you’re reading this post, chances are height is pretty important to you. All of the strollers listed here were selected in part because they are great for tall parents. However, if you decide to pick one that’s not on our list, you will generally be in good shape if you pick something with a handle height of at least 40 inches.

Weight

Umbrella strollers are lighter than regular strollers. But, some of them still weigh more than others. Some parents really want these to be ultra light so they are easy to pick up and carry around. We think this is an important consideration too.

Seating Positions

Some of these strollers recline and others do not. Often times toddlers spend most of their time sitting upright. However, for younger babies, it can be really important to have something that reclines easily. Depending on your situation, this may or may not be an important consideration.

Bells And Whistles

Simple things like storage space and cup holders can have a really big impact on your day to day life. It’s easy enough to find an umbrella stroller that includes a cup holder, so we wouldn’t recommend compromising on this.

In terms of storage, the underneath basket size will vary on different strollers. In addition, some will have rear storage bags included and others will not. This is something to consider when making your purchase.

Our Top Umbrella Stroller Reviews For Tall Parents

When looking at the universe of umbrella strollers out there, the first thing that we did was eliminate any that didn’t have high handles. Then, we scrutinized and reviewed all of the options to come up with the best umbrella strollers for tall parents.

UPPAbaby G-LUXE Stroller

This is a really high quality stroller that maneuvers like a dream.

The UPPAbaby G-LUXE is also a little more versatile than most other umbrella strollers, and is able to handle some rougher terrains quite well.

This one does require two hands to fold. However, once it’s folded, it is able to remain standing. This is an absolute lifesaver when you have to bring the stroller into a restaurant or somewhere else where space is limited.

The seat is super comfortable and easy to adjust to a reclined position. Both of these things go a long way to helping your little passenger get a little sleep.

It also comes with a really large storage area below the seat, and a cup holder for convenience.

It’s a bit sturdier than most, and as a result it’s a little heavier than some of the other strollers on the list.

The biggest knock on this stroller is that it’s priced at the expensive end of the range. If money wasn’t a factor, this would probably be our winner. But there are others on our list that offer a better value for the money in our opinion.

Pros

  • Handles really well
  • Super comfortable seat that is easy to adjust
  • Able to stand up when folded
  • Large storage basket

Cons

  • Fairly expensive
  • Heavier than some others on the list
  • Requires two hands to close

UPPAbaby G-LITE Stroller

While umbrella strollers are generally lighter than full sized strollers, this one is light even by umbrella stroller standards. This is a huge plus when loading it into a car, taking it out or carrying it anywhere. If weight tops the list of important features for you, this might be your best choice.

This stroller is well designed and easy to maneuver. You’ll appreciate this when shopping in a mall or walking on a crowded sidewalk.

The rubber padded shoulder strap makes this one extra easy to pick up and carry around.

There are a couple of limitations. For one, the seat doesn’t recline. This is a deal breaker for some parents, particularly if they are carting babies around. For toddlers, this feature tends to be less important.

This stroller also requires two hands to fold, which can be difficult at times.

Pros

  • Ultra light weight
  • Handles really well
  • Padded shoulder strap makes it easy to carry

Cons

  • Seat doesn’t recline
  • Requires two hands to close

Summer Infant 3D Lite Convenience Stroller

The Summer Infant 3D Lite Convenience Stroller delivers lots of really thoughtful features and very few drawbacks. It’s also well-priced and deliver loads of value.

This stroller comes with an extra large storage area below, as well as a rear storage pocket and cup holder. So, if you’re going shopping or want to place your diaper bag down below, you’re covered. You also have a nice place to put your keys, phone and coffee.

The seat reclines fully, so you’re little one can nap.

The sun visor is detachable, making it easy to take off and clean if desired.

On the downside, some parents report that this stroller can be difficult to fold. It has also been known to wear our more quickly than some of the higher priced options if heavily used.

All in all, in our opinion, the benefits far outweigh the drawbacks. And since this stroller is priced at the lower end of the range, making this purchase is not a huge gamble. A lot of parents seem to agree, since this is a wildly popular stroller!

  • Excellent value
  • Easy to adjust seat to recline

Cons

  • Easy to adjust seat to recline
  • Potentially wears out more quickly than more expensive options

JOOVY New Groove Ultralight Umbrella Stroller

This stroller has a lot of really cool features, including some that you won’t find in the others on this list.

For starters, this stroller comes with two cup holders. We can tell you from experience that when a husband and wife are walking around with their kid(s), it’s really nice if both parents have a place to put their coffee.

This stroller also comes with two in seat mesh pockets. So, you’re little passenger will have a bottle, sippy cup, snack or some toys within reach.

This stroller also is able to stand when folded. This is a really nice feature when you arrive at your destination and don’t want the stroller to take up too much space.

This is one of the heavier strollers on our list, though it’s still a lot lighter than your typical full size stroller. It also comes with a nice shoulder strap, which makes it relatively easy to carry around.

Some parents have reported that the cup holders can be a little loose. This means beverages can fall out if you hit a bump.

Folding this one is not the easiest either, which can be frustrating at times.

Pros

  • Two cup holders for parents and two in seat mesh pockets for babies and toddlers
  • Standing fold is really convenient
  • Comfortable shoulder strap for carrying

Cons

  • Cup holders may be a little loose
  • Some parents think it’s difficult to fold and open
  • Heavier than some others on this list

J Is For Jeep Brand North Star Stroller

You might not have expected to see a Jeep Brand stroller on our list, but this one definitely earned a spot.

This stroller has a few really convenient features. It comes with a cup holder and storage basket like a lot of others. However, it also comes with removable rear carry all organizer. This is a pretty unique feature and can be really convenient since you can easily take the whole organizer with you whenever you want to ditch the stroller. The one limiting factor with this removable organizer is that it doesn’t have a shoulder strap, which really would have been nice.

The seat is padded for comfort and can be rolled up to expose a mesh back. So, your child will stay warm in cool weather and can cool off when it’s hot out.

This stroller also comes in on the more affordable end of the range. The ride isn’t quite as smooth as some of the others, and it’s probably not as durable either. But, that’s to be expected with a lower priced item.

The storage area underneath also leaves a little to be desired in terms of size. The rear storage area partially makes up for this, but you will still find yourself without space to put really large items.

Pros

  • Removable carry all organizer
  • Excellent value
  • Versatile seat back padding can be rolled up to expose mesh

Cons

  • Ride is not as smooth as others
  • Durability can be a concern if heavily used
  • Underneath storage area is small
